August 15 (Independence Day) is celebrated as a national holiday due to India's independence from the United Kingdom. It started in 1947. India retained King George VI as head of state until the transition to a full-fledged republic, then the nation adopted the Constitution of India on 26 January 1950.

On this day, flag hoisting ceremony is organized in every school, college, and institute across the nation, where all the people remember the freedom fighters of their country and remember their sacrifices, and sing the national anthem.

With independence, unfortunately the country was divided into two parts, India Pakistan, and this step was taken by the Indian government because after independence there were riots and encounters between Hindus and Muslims in many parts of India, due to which 15 million people died. Displacement took place.
On 15 August 1947, the first Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru unfurled the Indian National Flag above the Lahori Gate of the Red Fort in Delhi, after which the current Prime Minister traditionally hoists the flag on every Independence Day and delivers an address to the nation. It is the history of independence day.
